On Teaching
A Passion For Art & Teaching

I bring a passion for Art to my work & to my teaching & it is often contagious!  I have many faithful, long-term students of all ages, abilities & disabilities.  I encourage & help my students to find their voices as Artists.  I teach & have taught numerous Classes & Workshops for South Surrey, City of Kamloops, Chilliwack Museum, Kamloops Art Gallery, Arts Council of Kamloops, ArtStarts, Children's Arts Festivals, Shuswap Festival of the Arts & numerous public & private school groups.  I am proud to say that many of my students have been invited to attend Young Artists' Conferences, including one student with no hands.  I have been teaching for over 15 years.

My most memorable moment as a Teacher (so far!) came when I was working with a group from Kamloops Christian School at Kamloops Art Gallery, during the Tony Onley Exhibit.  My style of teaching is to coach individually, so, as I made my way around the room, I became aware of a young boy that I'd already spent some time with.  He raised his hand, & then, becoming more intent on having my attention, he stood up with his arm pumping emphatically.  When I returned to him & asked what I could help him with, he said "Just look at it!", so I did.  I told him that I thought it looked great, & he said "Yes, I know!" (& That's why I teach!)

If you would like to join one of my Classes or Workshops, or if you would like me to come to your Community to conduct a Workshop or Artist Residency, you can send an E-mail to me at
joeynash@telus.net & I'll be happy to discuss the possibilities for you or your organization.
